Donate-A-Dollah Campaign
The “Donate-a-Dollar” fundraising campaign is an ambitious off and online grassroots initiative designed to help in the development of the World’s first hip-hop museum and hall of fame; a global awards ceremony recognizing artists of all elements of hip-hop and a state-of-the-art institution that will preserve hip-hop culture forever.
This project had been attempted quite a few times in the past to no avail. These groups underestimated the difficulty of, among many other things, overcoming the many political and bureaucratic barriers for a project of this magnitude. This hip-hop museum project, however, has made significant progress and is not going to fail due to lack of government enthusiasm!
The National Museum of Hip-Hop is a non-profit 501(c)(3) with an official NY State Charter-the first ever charter for a hip-hop museum. As a registered art/cultural institution within New York City, NMOH is supposed to be entitled to city, state and federal funds to help it operate. Unfortunately, these government bodies, along with other various grant organizations, have not fully accepted the legitimacy and/or economic viability of hip-hop culture. Consequently, after 3 years of operation, NMOH has not received any grants or public funding.
Anyone that has had access to a pair of ears or eyes within the last 2 decades could easily tell that hip-hop is THE MOST legitimate and THE MOST economically viable and influential form of art, music and culture in the World. But since the “powers-that-be” don’t seem to realize (or want to recognize) this fact, the members of NMOH have decided to put it in perspective: consider this, if even a small percentage of the people, within just New York City, who are fans of hip-hop were to donate at least $1, then the NMOH project would be fully funded and wouldn’t even need government assistance.
So, the NMOH Team is putting out a call-to-arms for hip-hop fans Worldwide, to show that we don’t have to sacrifice a lot individually if we can be willing to come together as a whole!
Donate JUST $1 to this cause and we will show the rest of society the true power and influence of hip-hop!
