Web Development & Graphic Design
The Web-Design volunteer will work within the Marketing Division, and directly in the office with the Director of Interactive Media. Tasks for the Web-Design Intern include, but are not limited to:
1. Maintaining and updating the website
2. Working with the staff of the company to further develop different sections
3. Proposing, developing, and installing new features
4. Monitoring web server and site technical performance
5. Maintaining and updating social networks
6. Creating various logos and other graphic art
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for someone to help us maintain and re-vamp our websites. The person can be located anywhere in the country as they will be working on remote servers anyhow. We need help with work that requires light technical know-how (HTML, CSS) and work that is more technically challenging (PHP, Javascript, mySQL, Flash, Flex). If you don’t have all those skills, we can probably still use you for the lighter technical work.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Researching and guiding the interactive media staff in effective use of blogs
- WordPress Development
- php, jQuery programming
- Adobe Flash with Actionscript 3
- Macromedia ColdFusion application development;
- Administration of user accounts and file permissions;
- Responding to support requests via e-mail and telephone
- Troubleshooting Web application errors
- Maintaining a clean and updated online contact database
- Reviewing all website pages for accuracy and currency
- Working with content owners to revise content
- Working with graphic, video and audio files,
- Maintain/expand TIP’s presence on blog
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong skills hand coding standards compliant, W3C valid HTML/CSS
- Some general php and jQuery experience
- Knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator web graphics tools
- Knowledge of Adobe Flash
- Some college coursework or comparable professional experience
- Image scanning experience
- Interest in web surfing and online socializing
COMPENSATION:
Internships for the National Museum of Hip-Hop offer a great deal of hands on experience. College credit is available upon request and school approval. Interns will gain the following benefits:
