Fundraising
The Fundraising volunteer will work with the Development Department, and directly in the office with the Development and Events Coordinator. Tasks for the Fundraising Intern include, but are not limited to:
1. Grant research and writing
2. Organizational funding appeals
3. Facilitating donor relations
4. Compiling regional fundraising toolkits and guides
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Development Team, the intern will assist with
various projects as they arise. General Development tasks include data entry, donor
cultivation, marketing/promotion activities, fundraising mailings and special events.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Researching and guiding the development staff in effective use of blogs
- Researching and identifying prospects potentially interested in donating to NMoH
- Assisting with the planning and coordination of informational and fundraising events
- Researching potential grant opportunities
- Creating a historical log of past grant history via review of hard and soft copy files
- Identifying potential ways to market merchandise such as ‘custom NMoH T-Shirts’
- Writing / Updating ‘one-sheet’ informational flyers
- Learning the NMoH database – assisting with data entry and possibly running queries.
- Assisting with mailings – mail merges, printing and stuffing
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong interpersonal, verbal (including phone work) and written communication skills
- Basic computer processing skills including Microsoft Office and Internet
- Some college coursework or comparable professional experience
- Interest in fundraising, marketing and special event coordination
COMPENSATION:
Internships for the National Museum of Hip-Hop are not paid but offer a great deal of hands on experience. College credit is available upon request and school approval. Interns will gain the following benefits:

Timeframe for Internship:
Spring/Summer internship runs April-August with a 10-12 hour per week commitment. Fall and Winter internships run three-months and require an 8-12 hour per week commitment. Internship can take place year-round.
